Our vineyard is meticulously handed maintained and our vines are pampered and decay in royal fashion. And even if you’re already familiar with our wines, do still drop in and pay us a visit and pick up one of our Back Vintages only available through the Cellar Door. Then, with our tiny, half ton microvin fermenters and constant vigilance we are capable to step back and let the wine evolve on its own, without our interference. Our loyal locals who come back year after year, along with a constant stream of young travelers temporary through the pretty Nelson region bear us with an ever temporary kaleidoscope of faces in our seasonal crews out on the vineyard.
Gorgeously plump, fleshy wine with fresh juicy acidity and pretty pleasing grained tannin. Citrus blossom, pears and tropical fruit aromas and flavors combine with a compressed and wealthy mouth feel, Hanuka honey mid palate and a complete of quince spice and Moutere minerals. Nelson has New Zealand’s greatest sunshine hours and this fact, coupled with our lenient maritime micro climate and the ancient glacial gravels of the Moutere Claus, all contribute to making this the beloved home of our 20,00 cherished vines. Handball tournaments down at the winery, water gun fights in the vineyard and the Nelson region’s spectacular microbreweries all assist us stay focused and correct to our vineyard philosophy happy workers make happy wine.

Since we are such a tiny operation, you’ll either be served by one of us who make the wines or, if we’re too ambitious out in the vineyard or down in the winery, then you’ll be taken protection by one of our awesome and smart cellar door staff. We prune back to either a single or double cane in the winter, shoot slim in the spring, crop slender and leaf pluck by hand in January, we net the vineyard in February and harvest by hand usually around about premature April each year.
The insignificant crop of handpicked Riesling grapes was partially destemmed and soaked on their skins overnight before to gentle pressing and nippy fermentation in stainless steel tanks
