In 2008, a project of Titokis received a Nelson Tasman Environment Award for important scale riparian plantings on a Golden Bay dairy farm, planned, managed and implemented by our team. Here at Titoki, we specialism in providing native plants for re vegetation, conservation, wetlands, farm planting, land development and indigenous forestry. We compile the seed for our re vegetation plants from the Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough districts. If you’re behind native plants and trees for a landscaping project, land development or subdivision planting, we have one of the largest ranges of native plants and trees in the country.
For projects where primary hide has been established it is crucial to re introduce climactic forest species such as kahikatea, totara, matai, rim and beech. They create self sustaining forests, providing large quantities of highly sought behind fruits for birds to enjoy and then disperse. Titoki Nursery has been at the fore of propagating native plants for re vegetation projects since the hasty 1980s when we were established by Martin and Jo Conway, pioneers of local re vegetation in New Zealand. If you have rivers, streams or ditches running through your property, you can aid water quality and habitat by excluding stock.
We prepare re vegetation plans and programs for sites in the Nelson and Tasman regions and Eco source the seed to make them happen. Titoki has been at the front of growing native plants for re vegetation since the early 1980s. We grow local plants for local projects, so we can focus on quality and make sure our customers get the best conceivable advice. We’re passionate about seed collection, re vegetation, landscaping and conservation for the top of the South Island.
As healthy as being involved with the day to day workings at Titoki, Tim works closely with the Tasman Environmental Trust and is an ecological consultant for a range of organizations and projects, including farming, property development, local government, and mining industries. We source our seeds locally, to aid regenerate our region with the native plants that have adapted to our unique environs, climate and soils, and to preserve the unique qualities of our flora. Carey sect virgata edges are apropos for nearest the water, along with harakeke, cabbage tree and toe toe as these plants won’t impede flows when in flood. Titioki has helped with re vegetation projects across the top of the South Island for over thirty years, supplying native plants for local Council projects, DE II National Trust, Project Crimson, Department of Conservation, Project Janszoon, Coast Care groups, mining companies, land development projects, farms and conservation minded public.
