St Joseph's School Nelson had its beginning in 1848 when Miss Mary O'Dowd opened a small co educational school for about a dozen children in the area, both Catholic and other than Catholic. Two years later, Father Garin arrived in Nelson New Zealand and began a small school for boys only, in the Presbytery. In 1871 four members of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions, an international religious order of French origin, arrived in Nelson at the request of Father Garin and took over the education of both boys and girls. This same order, whose primary work was education, staffed the school entirely for many years

Parents are very much involved in their child's preparation for these Sacraments. It is your involvement that will help your children, our school, and school community, remain to thrive. The aims of Social Observe are To develop those ideas and skills that will contribute to their accepting of themselves as portion of their society, culture and heritage To think clearly and critically about human behavior and values so that they may make reasoned choices To apply their knowledge and abilities to the welfare of people in a variety of local and global settings. Off Broadway performing arts school presents Ages 9 10, classes in acting and musical theater These classes will be eternal be taught by Tami Mansfield with surplus instruction by Off Broadway mentors in movement, acting, and singing. What is St Joseph's PTA? We are a group of parents, caregivers and teachers who are passionate about our school ensuring our children have marvelous memories of their days at St Joseph's School. St Joseph's School Nelson has a comprehensive education outside the classroom programmed for Year Three to Year Eight Y3 Y8 students. The school is asking parents of students at St Joseph’s School to contribute where conceivable towards school activities.
The St Joseph's School PTA also operates the Class reps group, which is a Parent Caregiver Encourage Group, whose aim is to beginning and run laughter events and activities that otherwise wouldn't occur at the school. More information regarding registration and upcoming grading days is available on our website aw. fcnelson. We at St Joseph's School Nelson trust that in order to flourish fully in society, each of us needs to have a genuine belief in his her own self worth, based on our faith in God's love for each of us
