What you should know about nelson watersports
With Nelson Watersports, he hopes to actively promote and encourage more participation in water sports in Nelson. This season she’s our Senior Sailing Instructor, and will be looking after the summer holiday programme at NYC. 7 and 420s both in Team Racing and at the fleet racing NZ Nationals. Through our agreement with Nelson Yacht Club we also aim to increase participation in dinghy sailing, providing instructing and coaching services. The facilities, climate and conditions in Nelson are second to none, and everyone should have the opportunity to get on the water in some form. We are looking for talented and experienced sailing coaches to join our team in Nelson for the summer season. You will be providing coaching to Nelson Yacht Club and or Nelson Bays Youth Teams Racing Association. In particular, we are looking for inspiring coaches who can bring a wealth of competitive racing and coaching experience to help further develop the growing number of youth sailors in Nelson.
With proven Teams Racing experience and Teams Racing coaching experience, you will plan, prepare and deliver a comprehensive programme of coaching for up to 6 College Teams Racing squads training and racing weekly in 420s. Through our agreement with Nelson Yacht Club we also aim to increase participation in dinghy sailing, providing instructing and coaching services. Furthermore we aim to encourage physical activity on, in, and around the water in the Nelson region. This position can also suit experienced overseas coaches instructors who are considering planning to spend a year or so travelling in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa.

We also have casual work from time to time for experienced instructors who are travelling through Nelson or staying for a while, so get in touch and let us know your skills. Working on the Junior Watersports Programme as a sailing or windsurfing instructor is a great summer job whilst in the last years of school or in University holidays. Developing your instructing and coaching abilities can also take you around New Zealand and around the world.
Yachting New Zealand Assistant Learn to Sail Coach Certificate or equivalent . You need to be confident, and we need to be satisfied, that you are capable of looking after a group of up to 6 boats on the water. We encourage keen sailors to come and assist with our group sessions throughout the season. Volunteer your time, make yourself useful and learn from the instructors teaching the sessions. We selected 8 successful candidates for a regular leadership and instructor training programme.
