What you should know about Nayland College
It is the employer of all staff in the school and is responsible for setting the school’s strategic direction in consultation with parents, staff and students, and for ensuring that the school provides a safe environment and quality education for all students. The Nelson region is famous for its year round sunshine, long golden beaches, national parks, locally grown produce, freshly caught seafood, and a large creative community of working artists. Current Year 8 students and their parents can take the opportunity to meet teachers and students, have a guided tour of the College and to experience some fun learning activities.

This is a school where students matter as individuals, and where many great teachers encouraged me to make the most of an amazing breadth of subjects and extracurricular activities on offer. We are a group of friendly, easy going parents who want the best and the extras for our kids.
We organise FUN d raising projects to benefit our kids and Nayland College. Nayland College has an excellent reputation for being more than just a school . Our happy, committed, and enthusiastic staff, always willing to go the extra distance. We support our students to be responsible and considerate young people who know their strengths, feel valued and are determined to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We do this by having committed, highly qualified teachers who work hard to engage students.
Teachers know students very well and work collaboratively to provide a wide range of support for their learning and achievement. Students that ERO spoke with said that relationships with teachers are a significant strength of the school and that staff consistently go the extra mile to provide them with additional support out of class hours. A range of rich learning opportunities within and beyond the school promotes student interest and engagement. We’re lucky to have so many high schools in the Nelson area to consider for our children.
The school culture here is fantastic and I feel I can be myself around school. The teachers are so enthusiastic about their subject and they’re really friendly. Nayland has great opportunities throughout the whole school music, sports, leadership and learning
