Our customer base is rapidly expanding and we need more Automotive Mechanics!. Thwaites Diesel was established in Nelson over 18 years ago and provides mechanical, maintenance, sales and hire services to our customers and Agencies across the top of the south region. You will report to the Workshop Foreman and will be responsible for repairs and maintenance work on a large variety of Customers’ vehicles equipment types, which could include light trucks, vans utes and light construction equipment. Mechanically minded individuals qualification is preferred, but not necessary.
To be and maintain our position as the number one customer choice for service and supply to Nelson Bays and surrounding areas in the Material Handling, Contracting and Transport industries. Ensuring performance in all we do is customer focused, has a high degree of excellence and making sure our standards are maintained and continuously improved. Graeme Thwaites started Thwaites Diesel on the corner of Muritai Street and Parkers Road in Nelson in November 1998. They took over the agencies of Nissan Forklifts and Kobelco with a staff of three, two of whom remain with the company today.
In 2005 Graeme formed a sister company, Momentum Equipment Services , to focus on the forklift side of the business. Thwaites Diesel Nelson Ltd, 9 Quarantine Park Ave Annesbrook Nelson Nelson 7011 New Zealand Map. He has been in business for 28 years previously owning the Volvo truck agency in Southland for 12 years. Graeme is very experienced in truck diagnostics and air systems and is a Certified Brake Examiner with the NZ Heavy Brake Code. His motivation was to find out what was required of his staff and to keep up to date with the latest innovations, to continue to provide technical support to the workshop staff.
Bernie sold the business to Komatsu in 2008, a world first in Komatsu history, to buy a dealership. He remained with them for a year before the allure of the Nelson region got the better of him. Originally planning to retire, Bernie found his passion for the industry drew him back in. Bernie started studying auto electrics in 199 and still keeps up to date today. Bernie has also completed many years of extensive Isuzu specialised training. He is committed to sharing his experience amongst the team, he maintains it would be a waste to take that many years of knowledge to the grave.
Andrew has 13 years parts experience, with 10 years prior experience working for franchised dealerships before joining Thwaites.
