Hz Clever Journeys Workshops is a collaboration between 3 Nelson based professional artists Jo Kinross, Ronnie Martin and David Ryan. Today, weavers and fiber artists are producing many quality items in a range of vibrant colors, textures, and styles, whilst still retaining the individuality of this ancient craft. Clever Journeys Workshops also works in conjunction with Arts Council Nelson to organize the popular Clever Arts Network in Nelson. Our connection to each other is not only in felt making, but in many other ways. Customary automatic dyeing and stitching techniques worn in a contemporary way bring expression to the work. Artist's Statement Len Hamilton Books and art have been a segment of my life for many years, Including some time spent as a librarian, and 4 years as a student in art school. fiber Spectrum Co Operative December 2016 Exhibition RECOVERED RECYCLED by Len Hamilton and Lois Morgan Len's works include Bags, painted image, deconstructed books, text, found objects and layers of stitch and memory.
Original Journeys Exploration and Experimentation Exploring and experimenting with ancient processes has inspired this clever journey. There are many parallels in our day to day lives, which we notice with our regular Skype connection. Heine Kruger Feltmaker in Clenze, Germany Member of two Art Co operatives We connected in 2009 on Heine's beginning visit to Nelson, when visiting fiber Spectrum. On her following visits to New Zealand, we went together to felting retreats in the North Island and in 2013 we shared a huge Art Project in the Marlborough Sounds creating our beautiful mermaid Amanda, situated on the roof of the Boat Shed adorning the entrance of Lochmara Lodge in Queen Charlotte Sound.
The Artists and Ingenious Journeys Jo Kinross works with plant dyes and spontaneous fabrics using environmentally responsible processes to bring a contemporary twist to an ancient art
