What you should know about Birchwood School
The school caters for families who live on the western side of Nayland Road and in recent years has experienced roll growth from fresh families in the Aldinga Ave subdivisions. For two years I've been a participating trustee on the board, but over the final scanty months I've had the pleasure, in my new role as chairperson of the Board of Trustees, to see the school from yet another view point. The board is the employer of all staff in the school and is responsible for setting the school's strategic direction in consultation with parents, staff and students, and for ensuring that its school provides a safe environment and quality education for all its students. Birchwood School is a U4 contributing primary school situated in the suburb of Stoke in the city of Nelson.
The BIRCHWOOD CUP is awarded each week to a student who has demonstrated outstanding ability in a variety of ways. The PRINCIPALS' CHALLENGE is awarded each term to one student from each room who has demonstrated excellence in one of our 'Learners Qualities'. Thrive a questioning attitude, consider what data is required and choose strategies to produce that data. Therefore the Board agreed, at our recent board meeting, to endorse it as DRAFT and question our community for your feedback on it.
